“What Type of Faith Are We Living In?”
What God is doing today in the church is awesome. What God wants to accomplish through every one of our lives is going to be phenomenal. For He is bringing us out of our sense faith and into the revelation faith reality of who He is and what He has done, and is about to do again. This is where the title "What Type of Faith Are We Living In?" comes from. In this series I will try to develop the difference between the two Faith's which are found in the church today; Sense Faith and Revelation Faith that have been in operation since Jesus Christ was here on the earth. All of the rights and privileges were paid for by His blood on Calvary.
I really want to get this point across before I start on the Faith issue in the church. God wants to use you. You must believe that He wants to use you, and you've got to believe that you are a vessel that He can use. Too often we've been put down, too often we've believed a lie and we don't believe that God has purpose for us. I want to break the back of the enemy off your life and I want you to understand it doesn't matter how old you are or how young you are. It doesn't matter if you are male or female, white, black, a child, highly gifted, or anything in-between. It doesn't matter what country you come from. It doesn't matter your education or the lack of it, or your status in life. It all depends on Jesus and the blood that He poured out on Calvary. He is the one that paid the price for us to come into relationship with Him. He bought us, He paid for us, now we owe Him our life. Amen! Now He wants to use us to win somebody else to Him that they might be taken out of hell in their thoughts and brought into the kingdom of Almighty God.
I tell you that God is awesome and He wants to transfer greatness into your life. Understand there is something greater than your good day and something greater than your bad day. There is something that will not change but someone who changes everything. Hallelujah! I am excited about what the Lord wants to do, but look, you've got to come in with two ears. The word of God says Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God; you have to make sure that there is a balance in everything that you read or hear pertaining to the word of God.
In the book of Matthew we see the operation of the two types of faith that are in the church from the time of Jesus Christ until today. When Jesus asked his disciples a question, their answer revealed the two types of faith that possessed them. Matthew 16:13-20. When Jesus came into the region of Caesarea Philippi, He asked His disciples, saying, "Who do men say that I, the Son of Man, am?" So they said, "Some say John the Baptist, some Elijah, and others Jeremiah or one of the prophets." He said to them, "But who do you say that I am? Simon Peter answered and said, "You are the Christ, the Son of the living God." Jesus answered and said to him, "Blessed are you, Simon Bar-Jonah, for flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but My Father who is in heaven. And I also say to you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build My church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it. And I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven." Then He commanded His disciples that they should tell no one that He was Jesus the Christ.
As you study how his disciples answered this question you will see the difference between the two faiths. The first type of faith is Sense Faith, which deals with the sense of touch, taste, smell, sight, and hearing. This is how we learn anything in life that deals with knowledge for it comes through our flesh senses. What do I mean? Well, the first time that I ever get burned by fire I put reason in my understanding not to do that again. This is how it is with anything pertaining to life. Whatever is in our reasoning or understanding can only come through the five senses. This is how the scientists operate in anything; it has to be proven in order to be a fact and that can only come through the five senses as far as they are concerned. They have to logically prove it by touch, taste, smell, seeing and hearing, because if it cannot be proven through the five senses it isn't true; as far as they are concerned, it is only a theory.
Now as sense faith relates to the study scripture of Matthew 16:13-20, Jesus asked his disciples a question, "Who do men say that I, the Son of Man am?" Now the disciples answered according to their senses by responding to Jesus with the names of men that were used by God to bring into this world God's presence in one form or another. They could only answer by reason of what they knew or understood because of their teaching through the senses; they saw John the Baptist, they read or heard about Elijah, Jeremiah, and about the other prophets. That is sense faith, but what about the next question that Jesus asked?
"Who do you say that I am?" Peter gave the answer, that showed the second faith that we will discuss and that is Revelation Faith. Study how Peter answered and what Jesus said to him. "You are the Christ, the Son of the living God." This was revelation that Peter received from God as Jesus said, "Peter, flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but my Father who is in heaven." Allow me to break this answer down for you, to see revelation faith in operation. Peter, flesh and blood, nor your senses have revealed this to you, but God my Father who is in heaven gave you the manifestation of the word of who I am. Through this revelation the word became flesh. A scripture to conform this revelation of Jesus is found in John l:l-3; "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God." He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made. To further exemplify, the revelation is found in John 1:14; "And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth." Without this same revelation faith that Peter received from Father God we will not know who Jesus Christ really is. The faith that should be in the church is revelation faith, which is the manifestation of the word of God, in other words, you are going to have to have the word of God coming out of the unseen world of heaven and showing up in the world that we live in.
When God started to reveal to me the different existing types of faith it was because of a dear man who I have had the privilege to meet and talk with at length. His name is Dr. Paul Harthern. I talked to him on the phone and I was wise enough to ask him what kind of books should I read?, what was a good author?, and in turn, gave me some names and Kenyon was one of them. If you are wise you will go to the book store and get some books by this man, it will help you with your understanding of faith, as well as other topics that will change your life. If you want, like me, to see something changed in your life, you've got to make changes. If you want to keep the same old stuff then you are going to do the same old stuff. But if you want a change, begin to change things around you.
Let's explore the Faces of Faith found in the Church. See, the church has not had the whole truth about the two types of faith. I have never heard the church explained the way that I am going to explain to you, Sense Faith and Revelation Faith. This is going to be so simple yet so profound. You are going to see, but will you understand? The scripture verse the Lord gave me about the two types of faith is found in Luke 18, the last half of verse 8. It reads "When the Son of Man comes, will He really find faith on the earth?" Can you see and hear Jesus? He wants an answer. Will there be the faith Christ is referring to, is all about revelation. The church many times gives the impression, "You have arrived. You're set." The word of God says, "You don't have half as much as you're going to get to make half as much as you need." Did you get that one? In other words, you can never get filled up with what God is getting ready to pour in, because it's got to come out of you to make it reality. We live in a facade. The real world is spiritual. This is just an image of the things we need, but the one true thing we must hunger for.
